When learning anything there is often a desire to display what we have learned through some sort of performance. This may come in the form of a contest or concert. In the case of English this can often be done through tests, like the Eiken test or through speech contest like the Kyoto Broadcasting System (KBS) speech contest. This is a popular venue for young learners to display their English speaking abilities. While this may seem like a long way off, we have included a link to the website here as well as a link to some one of the speeches here.
Even if your not particularly interested in joining this speech contest because you understand that your child may be competing against returnees or other children who have spent their kinder years in an international school, it would still be very beneficial to have your child prepare for one of these competitions. The focused practice will give your child a goal to look forward to and the completion of such a feat will surely boost their confidence even if they are just performing for friends and family. If you are interested in practicing one of the KBS speeches, please contact us here and we can talk about how we can support your child with their journey.
