Sight words are extremely important for any good literacy program. There are two major lists known as the Dolch list and the Fry list. The Dolch list consists of 220 words and they are broken down by grade. The Fry list consists of 1000 words and they are broken into sets of 100. The website sightwords.com has some great resources and has PDF versions of both lists. I have included a link to the first set of the Dolch list here and a link to the first Fry list here.
